I am married for last seven years. My husband works as landless laborer. I conceived just after marriage. But lost baby within 3 months. Again I became pregnant within 6 months but child could not survive beyond six months. I had not taken any precaution and had given birth to low-weight babies who unfortunately passed away. I became pregnant again last year but lost the baby. I have become very weak and unable to do any work. On the advice of AIF's community health workers I agreed for IUD insertion as I do not want to become pregnant again so soon. I want to regain my health and strength. Earlier I had no information but now I attend all the meetings organized by AIF.I will wait for some time before trying again for the baby.

Rukiya Begum is 16 years old. She was suffering from RTI with severe itching and discharge from vagina.She had not told her parents about her problem. When she met CHW Pinki she confided in her who in turn spoke to her parents. The CHW also advised her using clean cloth during menstruation and maintaining personal hygiene. On CHW's advice Rukiya Begum's parents took her to AIF RCH centre at Damalbari and showed her to Gynecologist. The doctor prescribed 12 days antibiotics course. Now she has recovered fully.

I am married for last ten years. My husband owns some land and does agriculture. I have five children, 4 boys and 1 girl. I am again pregnant. I did not get any check-up done in my previous pregnancies as a result I had difficult labour.My husband also didn't have any knowledge about health checkup, iron tablets or TT injection. When AIF's CHWs started coming to our village I attended all the meetings. They visited my home and gave information regarding ante-natal checkups. I went with them to the RCH centre and got myself checked. I am anemic but the doctor gave me iron tablets and told me to eat healthy food. The CHWs also convinced me and my husband to get IUD insertion done after the birth of my child. I donot want more children. I want to look after my children and give them healthy life.

Mukhtar Ali and Munawara Begum got married six months ago. After AIF's CHWs started visiting the village. They managed to convince them to delay the first pregnancy. So after waiting for three months, Munawara has got pregnant.She is following all the precautions suggested by the CHWs.

Mantasa Khatoon is 19 years old girl. She is deaf and dumb. Her father is a laborer with 8 other children. She is from Kala Bandar tola village Farrabari. She is also learning functional literacy. She can now write her name and village's name which she did for us very proudly.

Vill: Arrabari,Barahatia Tola
Furkannisa is 30 years old from village Arrabari,Barahatia Tola. She has 4 children. She belongs to conservative Shershahbadi community. She used to attend all the health meetings regularly.AIF field workers Tajmul and Manjari convinced her husband and she underwent family planning operation at Chattargach Referral Hospital. She has also joined SHG group TajMahal to supplement her income.
Poonam Jahan-III,
Poonam Jahan is studying in class-7th in local govt school. She is also learning stitching at centre at village Kala singhia. She is vocal about adolescent health issues. She spoke very confidently and wanted to be trained as Peer Educator.
