Project NIRMAN (Supported by NFI-CCF)
AIF has been working in the most backward district of Bihar -Kishanganj .AIF with the support of NFI successfully carried out Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health program in 15 villages of 3 blocks of Pothia,Thakurganj and Kishanganj.
In the second phase of the program the emphasis is on RCH issues along with youth and adolescent related heath issues. The target group comprises mainly of marginalized and poor women who have at least access to opportunities including education. There is need to address these critical issues which AIF is taking up in new intervention area. The focus again is on knowledge building as well as promoting behavioural change based on the set of outcomes set in.
Objectives:
1. Percentage of pregnant and nursing mothers enjoying improved maternal health has increased by 25% in the project villages by June 2008.
2. Improved survival rate of children between 0-2 years by 90% in the project areas by 2008.
3. No of adolescent boys and girls enjoying improved reproductive health and empowered to assume and exercise their reproductive rights increased by 40% in the project villages by 2008.
4. Enhanced RSH status of the marginalized community.
5. Increase use of contraception (temporary method) for spacing by young couples (15-45) of the marginalized community.
6. Improving nutrition of the adolescent.
